Russian Cadastre Steps into the 21st Century Print

 As noted from ECOLEX, an international environmental law database, the components of the new law included the following:

(a) public cadastre maps for general public use;

(b) official cadastre maps for use by official cadastre and immovable property bodies;

(c) municipal cadastre maps for use by municipal units; and

(d) regional cadastre maps for use by regional executive bodies.

The law also includes more details such as descriptions for boundaries, constructions, residential areas etc.

This is a step forward as it more fully formalises cadastral mapping within the country and sets out directions that can be used by private companies who wish to operate within the country.

As the Russian navigation and guidance system GLONASS begins to operate with a full constellation of satellites, it is expected that basic surveying to support country-wide infrastructure growth will be spurred by this step as it now begins to take root. Russian Cadastre…
