senseFly launches eBee e-learning platform and operator certification program to advance drone knowledge

CHESEAUX-SUR-LAUSANNE, Switzerland, January 2021 – senseFly, the global leader in fixed-wing drones, today unveils the launch of its new e-learning platform and dedicated Certified senseFly Operator Program, developed to equip unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators with the knowledge and skills required to carry out drone missions more accurately, safely and efficiently.

Through the unique, easy-to-use senseFly Academy platform, operators in all verticals – from surveying and GIS to agriculture and construction – can access a wide range of courses and modules as part of a self-paced training program. Shaped by senseFly experts, the modules are based on a deep understanding of operator needs and pain points and have been developed to help senseFly users overcome both common and sector-specific challenges. The platform guides users through the essential steps of drone mapping and usage, in addition to offering more in-depth insights into managing project workflows and in-field and in-flight troubleshooting.

Users of senseFly Academy can also register for the Certified senseFly Operator Program that helps operators to upskill and demonstrate an in-depth understanding of drone technology and processes. The online course is divided into six comprehensive modules and aims to equip users with proof of the necessary skills and knowledge required for flying mapping drones successfully. By building skilled and proficient operators with demonstrated professionalism and expertise, the certification will support users longer term by helping in tender applications and approval processes and speeding up insurance acquisition.

As part of senseFly’s wider commitment to operator training and customer support, users of the Academy and the Certified senseFly Operator Program also have access to custom training with a senseFly expert, as well as the option to participate in wider discussion groups through the e-learning platform. Operator training days and a regular schedule of webinars are also available on request, to
further enhance users’ skillsets.

“Drone training and resources vary significantly in quality and accessibility globally, which can cause frustration and confusion for drone operators looking to effectively incorporate the technology into their workflows,” explains Andrea Blindenbacher, Global Head of Training at senseFly.

“We designed the senseFly Academy to aid knowledge sharing in the drone space, helping operators navigate the complex landscape of UAV operations at their own pace and providing professionals with extra credibility and the all-important proof of experience. What’s more, it allows senseFly customers – no matter the sector – to ensure they are leveraging their senseFly drones, software and application-
specific payloads to the best of their ability and unlocking the technology’s full potential.”

Blindenbacher continues, “As part of our ongoing end-to-end service offering and support network for operators worldwide, we will continue to update the modules to ensure they remain timely and useful, as the drone landscape continues to evolve. In the future, we aim to expand the program to give operators the skills and confidence they need to explore more advanced operations too, such as flights beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) and operations over people (OOP).”
