Blue Marble Releases GeoCalc SDK v7.1 with Tool for Creating Custom Geoid Models

GeoCalc is the leading coordinate transformation “engine” for converting data from one coordinate system to another and performing advanced geodetic calculations including HTDP time dependent shifts. Blue Marble’s flagship developer toolkit is an object-oriented class library that can be incorporated into applications written for multiple development platforms. GeoCalc can provide GPS, surveying, engineering or mapping programs fast and accurate coordinate conversion and transformation capabilities. GeoCalc is found in the Geographic Calculator and many commercial GIS and survey applications.

GeoCalc Version 7.1 features support for creating custom vertical transformation grid formats giving your users the ability to make their own geoid models. Other features include added support for Magnetic Declination. This allows users the option to reference magnetic north rather than true north and is particularly useful when working with offsets for magnetic north corrections. This object-oriented class library also features a new DataSource search tool to aid in navigating.

“Blue Marble is pleased to make this robust toolkit available to our OEM partners and developers,” states Blue Marble President Patrick Cunningham. “We feel these new features will assist our customers in leveraging the toolkit and provide the end user with a seamless experience.”

Additionally, version 7.1 includes many additional interface options to create seamless integration between products. One of the handy addition is an easy option to display a “Help” button in the DataSource interface, allowing developers to point the user to their product’s Helpfiles. Other new interface options include the ability to display optimization of “Area of Use” for Transform picker, new aliasing and filtering capabilities for parameter and method names, and a “Browse” button for file-based path parameters. Additionally, many new Projections and Coordinate systems have been added, as well as new Vertical Coordinate systems and transformations such as IGLD 1985 models, CGVD 2013 (Canadian Geodetic Vertical Datum), NAP (Normaal Amsterdams Peil) and updated support for HTDP v3.2.3.
