Indonesia Booming – Infrastructure Needed

indonesia

Indonesia is rapidly growing and flourishing with an new credit upgrade and continued economic expansion. But the infrastructure of the country cannot keep up, and that is both a challenge – and a headache. As NPR recently stated in the article ‘Indonesian Economy Booms, Its Infrastructure Groans’ the economy is facing the need to solve the problem.

The legal framework within the country is part of the issue that needs to be dealt with, but investment in basic infrastructure is a high need, requiring improved land surveys, data management systems and the development of planning and urban development strategies.

Recently the Indonesian BAKORSURTANAL developed a new GeoPortal, aimed at harmonising the country’s geospatial data and leading toward improved national spatial data infrastructure. That action is sure to improve the circumstances leading toward better infrastructure, and solid step in the right direction.
