Intermap collects elevation data aerially, using aircraft equipped with Interferometric Synthetic
Aperture Radar (IFSAR) technology and supplements this with satellite acquired data to generate
uniform, high-resolution 3D digital models and orthorectified imagery of the earth’s surface. From
today, Geoimage will be distributing Intermap’s NEXTMap® digital elevation models and image
products, which include:
Digital surface models (DSMs) – a first reflective surface model that contains elevations of
natural terrain features in addition to vegetation and cultural features such as buildings and
roads.
Digital terrain models (DTMs) – a bare earth model that contains elevations of natural terrain
features such as barren ridge tops and river valleys with elevations of vegetation and cultural
features, such as buildings and roads, digitally removed.
Orthorectified radar images (ORIs) – a grayscale radar image of the earth’s surface that has
been corrected to remove geometric distortions caused by the terrain.
