Sokkia NET-AX Series of Automated Total Stations for 3D Monitoring

The series has an auto-pointing feature that sights the prism closest to the telescope center, even if multiple prisms or reflectors are in the field of view. In combination with the external control system, the total stations automatically search the predetermined area to quickly locate the position of the reflectors. “This function works even in low light or dark conditions when reflectors cannot be recognized by the human eye,” Walker said.

The auto pointing accuracy range – up to 3,500m (11,480ft) with prism and up to 400m (1,310ft) reflectorless (NET1AX) – is a feature that “remarkably enhances the reliability of periodic monitoring with predetermined targets,” said Walker.

“With the automated monitoring capability, the NET-AX series provides an affordable, flexible solution for a variety of applications including construction of bridges, ships, complex industrial plants and even vehicles and aircraft. The series is ideally suited for measuring tunnel convergence and deformation, creating tunnel cross-section profiles (using a combination of reflectorless EDM and motor drive functions), and profile contours of tunnel walls.”

In addition to 3D monitoring, the series has a 2D monitoring function specifically developed to reduce measurement time for real-time, 2D monitoring applications. The NET-AX models can be operated by the external control system “to quickly obtain vertical and horizontal angles, enabling faster recognition of 2D (vertical and horizontal) movements,” said Walker.

“The features and functions of the NET-AX series are designed to give the operator automated efficiencies from the point of initial setup throughout the monitoring process.” Read More
