Applanix Introduces Two New Direct GeoReferencing Solutions for High Productivity Land- Based Mobile Mapping, Autonomy & Field Robotics Applications

Stuttgart, Germany, September 15, 2015 — Applanix Corporation, a world leader in products and solutions for mobile mapping and positioning, introduced today two new solutions to its POS LV™ (Position and Orientation Solution for Land Vehicles) portfolio, the POS LV 125 and the POS LVX.  With these additions, Applanix offers high-performance solutions for a wide cross-section of land-based applications, including large fleet mobile mapping, autonomous vehicle guidance and field robotics applications.

The announcement was made at the Intergeo 2015 conference and exhibition in Stuttgart, where Applanix is exhibiting in Halle 8 at booth C8.047.

The Applanix POS LV is a compact, fully integrated, turnkey position and orientation system, utilizing integrated inertial technology to generate stable, reliable and repeatable positioning solutions for land-based mobile mapping and guidance applications. The new POS LV 125, designed for precise positioning and use in autonomy and field robotics applications as well as entry-level mobile mapping, is a full-featured POS LV based on the Trimble® BD982 GNSS module and a recently introduced  inertial measurement unit developed by Applanix and Trimble—AIMU-M5.  The AIMU-M5 is a small, powerful microelectromechanical system (MEMS)-based IMU, which incorporates Applanix’s proprietary SmartCal™ inertial calibration techniques for greater accuracy, efficiency and productivity.  POS LV 125 is fully compatible with Applanix POSPac MMS™ post processing software as well as a variety of mapping sensors. POS LV 125 delivers the real-time performance required in field robotics and autonomous vehicle applications.

The POS LVX is a new configuration of POS LV designed for the smaller, modular mobile mapping system.  Easily integrated with many types of sensors including optical, infrared, and lidar, the POS LVX delivers Inertially-Aided Real-Time Kinematic (IARTK) positioning in a small, lightweight form factor.  The POS LVX is housed in a robust, rugged enclosure and can easily be incorporated into small vehicles, autonomous platforms and tight spaces of all types.

“By introducing these two additions to the land product portfolio, we are able to deliver high-value solutions to customers with a variety of requirements, including the large fleet mobile mapping community as well as the autonomous vehicle / robotics marketplace,” said Kevin Andrews, Product Manager of Land Products. “Applanix continues its commitment to provide customers with options that best fit their budgets and requirements.”

The POS LV 125 and POS LVX are both expected to be available in the third quarter of 2015 through Applanix’ land sales channels. For additional information about POS LVX and POS LV 125, visit www.applanix.com/products/land
