Map of the Month: Single-person households, Germany 2018

GfK’s Map of the Month for February shows the 2018 distribution of single-person households in Germany.

According to GfK’s latest study on Germany’s demographics, the urban district of Regensburg has Germany’s highest share of single-person households with 56.5 percent. The urban district of Würzburg comes in at second place with 54 percent, followed by the urban districts of Flensburg (52.5 percent) and Passau (52.2 percent). With 48.5 percent, Berlin ranks just twenty-fourth, putting it behind other large cities such as Munich (50.6 percent) and Cologne (49.7 percent).

Demographic insights such as these allow retailers, manufacturers and service providers to locate their target groups and concentrate sales and marketing campaigns in regions with the highest affinity for their offering.

More results from GfK’s study on Germany’s demographics can be found in our recent press release.
