Leica Geosystems Be Captivated LIVE Tours Transport Surveyors and Engineers to the Future

NORCROSS, GA, June 25, 2015 — In response to the tremendous interest in the Leica Captivate Experience following its debut at HxGN LIVE 2015 in Las Vegas, Leica Geosystems is launching the Be Captivated Live Tours in locations around the U.S. and Canada.

The events will give surveyors and engineers the opportunity to experience the future of surveying by immersing themselves in Captivate’s intuitive functionality and customizable interface, exploring the potential to bring live-streamed intelligent cloud-based imagery into the field, and test driving the world’s first self-learning measurement instruments.
The Be Captivated Live Tours will kick off with a Think Forward webinar at 2 pm EDT on June 25, in which Shannon Hixon of Leica Geosystems will give attendees a virtual tour of the new 3D immersive software and its capabilities. (Register to attend the webinar here.)
The local Live Tour events will provide personalized demonstrations of how to streamline graphical coding and linework, how to seamlessly switch between 2D and 3D to transform survey data into workable models, and how to leverage the integration of design, survey and scanning data to increase business success. Attendees will be among the first to see firsthand how georeferenced imagery from the Hexagon Imagery Program (HxIP) can be used to add spatial and contextual awareness to surveys, as well as enable better planning and decision-making for more efficient and productive time onsite.
Experienced professionals will be available at each Live Tour event to answer questions and provide insights on how to easily access and use 3D data and high-resolution imagery from a variety of different sensors and sources with a much faster and easier workflow. Attendees will also be able to explore the world’s first self-learning Leica Viva TS16 Total Station, Leica Nova TS60 Total Station and Leica Nova MS60 MultiStation—innovations that bring artificial intelligence to geospatial applications.
Additionally, all Live Tour attendees will have the opportunity to be entered in a drawing to win an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of Leica Geosystems in Heerbrugg, Switzerland.
Shawn Crawford, the assistant regional director of surveying for ESE Consultants in Boston and a beta tester of Leica Captivate, calls the new software “a giant leap forward” for its ability to bring 3D into the field. “We can now view our work right there when we capture it instead of waiting until we get back to the office,“ he said. “Being able to reference yourself inside of a 3D scan—there is just nothing else like this out there in the industry.” (Watch the interview here.)
Professionals can experience the intuitive touch-technology software for themselves at the Be Captivated Live Tours. Even those who are not looking to purchase should attend to see and learn about the future of surveying solutions. Space at each event is limited, so early registration is recommended. A listing of Live Tour locations will be posted in early July. All webinar attendees will be automatically notified of events in their area.
