GISCI Honors Arup and JMT Technology Group as 2025 Organizations of the Year

Des Plaines, IL — The GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) is proud to announce that Arup and JMT Technology Group have been selected as the 2025 GISCI Organizations of the Year, recognizing their exceptional support for GISP certification and their sustained commitment to ethical geospatial practice, professional development, and the public good.

The GISCI Organization of the Year Award honors organizations that actively promote and support GIS Professional (GISP®) certification while demonstrating leadership in areas such as workforce development, open data, privacy protection, and public participation in governance. Following a competitive nomination process, a three-member judging panel appointed by the GISCI Board of Directors determined that both Arup and JMT Technology Group exemplify the values and standards this award is intended to recognize.

“Arup and JMT Technology Group have each demonstrated a deep and sustained commitment to empowering GIS professionals and advancing the responsible use of geospatial technology,” said Tony Spicci, Executive Director of GISCI. “Their support for GISP certification, investment in professional growth, and dedication to ethical and transparent practices set a powerful example for organizations across the geospatial community.”

Both organizations actively promote the professional development of GISPs, maintain structures that recognize and reward certification, and uphold policies and practices that support open data, individual privacy, and meaningful public engagement. Through these efforts, Arup and JMT Technology Group have strengthened not only their own organizations, but also the broader geospatial profession and the communities they serve.

As recipients of the 2025 GISCI Organization of the Year Award, Arup and JMT Technology Group will each receive formal recognition from GISCI, including a commemorative award item, in appreciation of their leadership and impact.
