Robert Cardillo, the Former Director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, Joins the Analytical Space Advisory Board

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Analytical Space, Inc. (ASI) today announced the appointment of Robert Cardillo, the former Director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), as the eighth member of its advisory board. Mr. Cardillo brings his 36 years of experience in the U.S. Intelligence Community (USIC) including impactful tenures of leadership at NGA, the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to ASI’s advisory board. Cardillo will advise and counsel ASI as it deploys its satellite data relay network to serve the needs of the U.S. warfighter and intelligence professionals, as well as commercial end users.

Analytical Space’s Chief Executive Officer, Dan Nevius, reflected on the appointment of Mr. Cardillo, “Robert’s extensive experience as a geospatial intelligence and national security professional will prove invaluable to fulfill ASI’s vision to enable the delivery of remotely sensed satellite data to U.S. government and commercial end users in near real time. Robert not only intimately understands the needs of the USIC and the priorities of each stakeholder in the intelligence cycle, but has spent his career employing space technology to promote transparency and prosperity around the globe, a vision that we share at ASI. The company will benefit immensely from his expertise and guidance. We are excited to welcome him as a key member of the ASI advisory board.”

Cardillo began his career in national security with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) in 1983 as a photographic interpreter. In May 2000, he was selected to the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service. In 2009, Cardillo served as the Acting J2, a first for a civilian, in support of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In 2010, the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), James Clapper, selected Mr. Cardillo – who was then a Deputy Director of the DIA – to serve as the Deputy Director of National Intelligence for Intelligence Integration. In this position, he was responsible for managing, editing and delivering the President’s Daily Brief to President Barack Obama. Mr. Cardillo was selected to be the sixth Director of the NGA in 2014, a position in which he served until early 2019.

Cardillo joins a group of seven distinguished advisory board members who are a critical resource to ASI’s leadership team. These board members include Mr. Pete Worden, the former Director of NASA Ames Research Center; Mr. Mike French, the former NASA Chief of Staff; Ms. Amanda Fuisz, a former Senior Attorney at NASA; Mr. Ramana Nanda, the Sarofim-Rock Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School; Mr. Peter Marquez, the former Director of Space Policy at the White House National Security Council; and Mr. Justin Oliveira, a co-founder of ASI.

About Analytical Space

Analytical Space is deploying a network of data relay satellites in low earth orbit to enable high throughput, low latency downlink of data from remote sensing satellites. Today, no network exists to connect commercial GEOINT collection platforms in LEO through one network for delivery to end users on the ground; ASI aims to build out that infrastructure. Through its network, ASI will enable satellite operators to generate more data and deliver it to end users in near real time, without altering their existing communications hardware. Analytical Space has deployed two technology demonstration satellites, one which is currently in orbit, and the second which is on track for a third quarter 2019 launch. ASI is currently on two separate contracts with the U.S. government to develop and prototype its technology for defense purposes.
