ARC Advisory Group Report Names Esri GIS Market Leader

REDLANDS, Calif.- Esri, the global leader in location intelligence, today announced its top ranking in the Geographic Information Systems Market Research Study report, produced biannually by ARC Advisory Group. According to the study, Esri is a market leader in most segments including electric power transmission and distribution, water and wastewater, and oil and gas. It also leads in project size. Esri’s total geographic information system (GIS) market share by revenue is several times greater than the company’s competitors.

ARC Advisory Group’s data shows that Esri accounts for over 45 percent of the worldwide GIS market, positioning the company as a leader in the industry. The report also notes Esri’s commitment to keeping up-to-date with emerging and future trends, a crucial component for the success of GIS providers.

Esri’s lightweight, easily deployable ArcGIS platform enables industries—ranging from retail and utilities to local and federal government agencies and nongovernmental organizations—to deliver location intelligence capabilities across their enterprises. The ARC Advisory Group study reinforces that Esri’s ArcGIS platform is recognized particularly as the market-leading enterprise system for the utility and infrastructure sectors.

“Our users know that Esri is focused on staying ahead of emerging utilities and infrastructure industry trends such as IoT [Internet of Things] and real-time capabilities,” said Bill Meehan, Esri’s director of utility solutions. “We invest extensively in location intelligence technology innovations to help organizations improve data reliability and accuracy for their field crews as well as speed up repair and maintenance efforts, and that gives us an edge over our competition.”

ARC Advisory Group is an independent technology research and advisory firm that specializes in market analysis for industry, infrastructure agencies, and cities. The firm’s report presents a current-market analysis as well as a five-year forecast to help GIS providers anticipate trends and make strategic decisions.
