Noida, India,  February 04, 2016 — Greg Scott, Inter-Regional Advisor of UN-GGIM, has been chosen as Geospatial Ambassador of the Year for 2015. The award shall be presented during Geospatial World Forum on May 25, 2016, at World Trade Centre, Rotterdam. The jury, comprising of renowned professionals representing industry, academia, government and multilateral organization, met in December ‘15 to select this year’s Geospatial World Leadership Awardees.

United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) has been path-breaking initiative and it has made significant value and difference to geospatial community globally in a very limited time span. UN-GGIM has made tremendous contributions in geospatial information to address larger sustainable development goals. While complementing efforts of UN-GGIM, the jury has recognized Greg’s role and contributions as a geospatial professional who has been associated and involved with entire process.

“Greg’s professional knowledge, coordination capabilities, and advocacy have played a vital role in establishing themes and processes of UN-GGIM in addressing sustainable development challenges. He has been extremely hands-on and has played a major role in addressing challenges of the geospatial community,” stated Sanjay Kumar, CEO, Geospatial Media and Communications. “I would further like to complement the efforts and leadership of Stefan Schweinfest, Director of UN Statistics Division at United Nations,” he added.

“In being recognized as the Geospatial Ambassador of the Year, I am both deeply humbled and proud. Humbled that such a prestigious award has been bestowed on me by my professional peers, and proud that UN-GGIM has been able to, in a very short period of time. It has added real value and relevance in its contribution to the global geospatial professional community. For this UN-GGIM community is most grateful,” said Greg Scott, Inter-Regional Advisor, UN-GGIM.
