ViON and Nutanix Showcase Hyperconverged Infrastructure-Based Solution Designed for GIS Operations at 2018 ESRI User Conference

HERNDON, Va.- ViON Corporation, a cloud service provider and market leader in the design, delivery and maintenance of mission-critical IT infrastructure solutions, announced today that it has partnered with Nutanix to showcase a new hyperconverged infrastructure-based (HCI) solution using its Enterprise Cloud Platform and featuring NVIDIA GPUs at the 2018 ESRI user conference in San Diego July 9-13. This solution leverages data locality, web-scale, hyperconverged architecture, and powerful GPU technology to support performance and end-user experience demands while ensuring availability and easy scaling to effectively run GIS software, and, through ViON’s as-a-Service model, it’s now more cost-effective to acquire. This partnership enables GIS users to efficiently manage image files and make the most of their GIS mapping technology without burdening their budget.

Nutanix’s HCI-based Enterprise Cloud solution integrates NVIDIA GRID technology supporting multiple GPU video cards from a single server block and providing the ability to run many virtual GPU sessions for GIS servers or desktops. This solution prevents performance loss for mission-critical GIS operations. Supported by VION’s Data Center as-a-Service financial model, it is a low risk approach to driving GIS desktop applications on VDI.

“By partnering with Nutanix, we are able to support the most demanding environments with next-generation technology to ensure optimal performance of GIS desktops – all in a flexible as-a-Service model,” said Tom Frana, ViON CEO and Chairman. “Our as-a-Service approach allows us to help more organizations capitalize on the benefits that this solution has to offer, including enhancing the scalability and performance of GIS servers and desktops, regardless of GIS user community growth.”
