East View Geospatial Offers New Formats, Lower Pricing for French Nautical Charts

MINNEAPOLIS – East View Geospatial (EVG) is pleased to announce an agreement with the French Naval Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service (Service Hydrographique et Océanographique De La Marine, SHOM) to offer digital nautical charts of French waters. This agreement expands upon the existing EVG-SHOM partnership, now allowing EVG to distribute GeoTIFF charts and S57 vector data in addition to EVG’s existing print-on-demand services for SHOM charts.

As France’s authority on maritime navigation, SHOM maintains up-to-date nautical charts of French and international waters. Paper and GeoTIFF charts offer global coverage at varying degrees of detail, with 816 available charts. The S57 vector data set consists of 589 charts, and offers coverage over France and French territories.

EVG has direct access to the latest digital files for all SHOM charts, ensuring customers receive the most up-to-date edition of a chart, regardless of format. In addition, new GeoTIFF and vector data format options provide users with greater flexibility in working with the charts, and mean that delivery time is greatly reduced. Furthermore, the new agreement with SHOM allows for reduced pricing for print-on-demand charts, lowering the price by nearly 50 percent, from $79.00 per sheet to $42.00 per sheet.

With this latest agreement, East View Geospatial continues its mission to provide customers with the most authoritative and up-to-date geospatial data from across the globe.
