INTERGEO 2017: Geodyn Provides for the WHAT, WHERE & WHEN

Geodyn presents its innovative image conversion and processing technology. This permits the digitizing of aerial photographs a magnitude faster and at lower cost than what has been possible so far, thereby providing affordable access to the huge data volume of archived aerial photography.

The importance of preserving aerial photography to safeguard a country’s heritage is widely acknowledged. As in the case of large libraries, its data is practically no longer accessible without transferring the content into a digital format.

It is significant that multi-temporal aerial photography traces the course, interaction and consequences of events. It permits an impartial assessment of measures taken in the past viewed in the light of current awareness. Hindsight turns into an important asset for planning the future. Temporal aerial photography, allows the identification of trends and their variations, caused by paradigm shifts that might have passed unnoticed, possibly in an unconnected domain. Consider that conditions do not happen but develop, often imperceptibly, until they cause problems. By this time the likely cause might no longer be recognizable. Identifying what causes them leads to corrective action.

The digital conversion and geo-referencing of large aerial photography archive is a recent development opening new possibilities in serving the increasing data demand for AI. Data mining, pattern recognition and change detection play an increasingly prominent role in the analysis of aerial as well as space born images.  Trend analysis will be of high importance in providing the base for previsions and measures to be taken. No development must take place, without having taken a foreseeable trend into consideration. Doing so requires a review of the past, a prime domain of temporal aerial images. Conclusions can be drawn more accurately, based on highly reliable data analysis and the statistical sampling of BigData.

Fast access to such data is not only due to novel conversion technology but also to advanced high-performance image processing procedures. Conversion from analog to a digital format of aerial photography is only the initial step in converting temporal aerial photography coverages into image map layers, that are geo-referenced with detail matching accuracy. Employing advanced procedures and software developed jointly by ESRI and Geodyn, our company performs aerial triangulation, block adjustment, digital terrain modelling, orthophoto production, seam-line processing, advanced color matching, etc., with exceedingly high performance and productivity rates. This provides data that can easily be integrated into various operational systems or used stand-alone in a dedicated application.

Geodyn provides for the WHAT, WHERE & WHEN, key ingredients in decision making.
