Trimble Expands Harvest Solution to Include Yield Monitoring and Row Guidance

Yield Monitoring

Trimble Yield Monitoring allows growers to accurately view and map yield and moisture data as they harvest, providing instant information about the performance of their crop. The variety tracking feature provides real-time yield information for different seed varieties, decreasing input costs by allowing growers to better determine what seed variety to buy. In addition, Trimble Yield Monitoring enables growers to track the amount of grain loaded onto the trucks in the field and wirelessly transfer the information back to the office to reconcile yield records using Farm Works® software.

Farmers can also benefit from the auto-cut width feature which automatically adjusts the header to respond to odd-shaped fields, point row, or other previously harvested areas, resulting in accurate area and yield calculations.

The complete Yield Monitoring package includes a moisture sensor and cable, CAN module, optical yield sensors and header height cable. Growers may purchase a partial package that does not include a moisture sensor if they want to utilize the existing OEM-installed moisture sensor. Trimble Yield Monitoring can be installed on a wide range of combines.

RG-100 Row Guidance

Trimble RG-100 row guidance utilizes sensors on the combine head to signal the Autopilot™ steering system when to adjust to changes in the corn rows. It also centers the combine head on straight, curved, or hillside rows. The system operates in conditions that are traditionally difficult for the combine operator, such as down corn, long passes, and other poor visibility conditions, allowing the combine to harvest more corn without manual input from the farmer.

“While many of our customers know us for our proven guidance and steering systems, we?ve developed solutions for other farming operations, such as flow and application control that integrate GreenSeeker sensors and our Field-IQ crop input control system which uses Rawson drives and Tru Count clutches,” said Erik Arvesen, vice president for Trimble’s Agriculture Division. “Our yield monitoring and row guidance capabilities are the foundation of a full product line for harvest which will allow us to provide solutions that will enable farmers to maximize efficiency and generate higher crop yields.”

Trimble Yield Monitoring and RG-100 row guidance are expected to be available in the third quarter of 2011. Visit www.trimble.com/agriculture for more information or to find a local reseller.
