Microsoft Offers More Efficiency and Flexibility Through Enhanced UltraCam Osprey Versions

Stuttgart, Germany, September 15, 2015 — From the Intergeo conference in Stuttgart, Germany, Microsoft’s UltraCam business unit introduces two new versions of the UltraCam Osprey: The UltraCam Osprey Prime II, with bigger nadir PAN, nadir RGB, nadir NIR and oblique RGB footprints, and the UltraCam Osprey Prime Lite as a new entry-level camera system, both combining a high performing photogrammetric nadir camera with oblique image capture capabilities. The UltraCam Osprey Prime Lite features five RGB color cones in total for nadir and oblique collection and an optional nadir NIR cone can be integrated. It can be easily upgraded to an UltraCam Osprey Prime II if needed.

The key benefits of the UltraCam Osprey Prime II are:

•         Higher nadir and oblique collection efficiencies through:

o   Increased PAN nadir image size of 13,470 x 8,670 pixels

o   Increased RGB oblique image size of 10,300 x 7,700 pixels

•         Flexibility through:

o   Collecting photogrammetry-grade nadir images and oblique images simultaneously with subpixel accuracy and high dynamic range equivalent to other UltraCam cameras

The key features of the UltraCam Osprey Prime Lite are:

•         Five RGB Bayer patter 80MP pixel cones for nadir and oblique image collection

•         Optional nadir NIR cone for classification

•         Entry level oblique camera system

•         Seamless UltraMap processing workflow

•         Upgradeable to UltraCam Osprey Prime II

All third generation UltraCam camera systems are fully supported in the UltraMap workflow software system. The ability to perform aerial triangulation (AT) and dense matching allows for the creation of high accuracy point clouds, digital surface models (DSMs), digital terrain models (DTMs), DSM orthos (true orthos) and DTM orthos (traditional orthos). The cameras are also compatible with the UltraNav direct georeferencing and flight management system.

“The UltraCam Osprey Prime II is the sensor of choice for the widest range of aerial imaging applications,” said Alexander Wiechert, Microsoft Business Director. “And with the UltraCam Osprey Prime Lite we provide customers who are looking to enter the oblique market with a lower cost, entry-level UltraCam system to simultaneously collect nadir and oblique RGB data, giving them the flexibility to upgrade it to a fully equipped UltraCam Osprey Prime II later on.”

The new versions of the UltraCam Osprey will be available for delivery to customers in February 2016. An upgrade program is offered for existing UltraCam customers. Stop by Booth #F4.080 in Hall 4 at Intergeo to learn more.
