SPASA advances aerial imaging capabilities with UltraCam Osprey 4.2

Graz, Austria • May 13, 2026 — Vexcel Imaging announces that Servicios Politécnicos Aéreos (SPASA), an international reference in geospatial solutions with a consolidated presence across Europe, has expanded its aerial mapping capabilities with the acquisition of the UltraCam Osprey 4.2 nadir and oblique aerial camera system. This addition underscores SPASA’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge imaging technology and high-performance data acquisition. The investment further reinforces SPASA’s mission to operate state-of-the-art photogrammetric systems for high-precision mapping, 3D city modeling, and digital twin projects.

A Strategic Partnership Supporting Innovation in the Iberian Market

The acquisition was completed through GeoToolBox Ibérica S.L. (GTBi), Vexcel Imaging’s authorized regional sales and support partner for Spain, Portugal, and Latin America. As a trusted supplier, GTB Ibérica has supported SPASA since its first UltraCam D camera acquisition, playing a key role in bringing the latest photogrammetric innovations to the Iberian market.

Carlos López, Director of SPASA:

“This investment in the UltraCam Osprey 4.2 through our partners at GeoToolBox Ibérica represents an important step forward for our company. It significantly enhances our ability to deliver sophisticated, high‑density geospatial data while maintaining the quality standards that have defined SPASA for four decades. Advanced systems like this allow us to continue raising the bar for photogrammetric services in Spain and beyond.”

UltraCam Osprey 4.2: Expanding Urban Mapping Capabilities

With 40 years of experience in aerial surveying and geospatial engineering, SPASA has established itself as a benchmark within the industry. Since 2006, the company has consistently relied on Vexcel UltraCam systems, building a reputation for reliability, accuracy, and operational excellence across a wide range of public and private sector projects.

The UltraCam Osprey 4.2 integrates high‑resolution nadir and oblique imaging in a single system, enabling efficient data capture for dense urban environments. Its advanced architecture allows SPASA to collect more information per flight, increasing productivity while maintaining exceptional data quality. It is the ideal solution for large‑scale mapping, Digital Twins, and detailed 3D city models throughout the Iberian Peninsula.

To support this capability, SPASA also invested in the UltraMount GSM 5000 stabilization and mounting system, along with licenses for Vexcel Imaging’s UltraMap photogrammetry software suite. This integrated configuration ensures precise data acquisition and streamlined photogrammetric processing, resulting in efficient workflows and consistently high‑quality deliverables.

Leadership Through Innovation

Alexander Wiechert, CEO of Vexcel Imaging, commented on the delivery: “We are delighted to see SPASA expand its UltraCam fleet with the UltraCam Osprey 4.2. Their long‑term trust in Vexcel technology since 2006 speaks volumes about the performance and reliability of our systems. SPASA continues to set high standards for aerial data quality in the Iberian region, and we are proud to support their ongoing success.”

This latest system delivery further strengthens the long‑standing collaboration between SPASA, Vexcel Imaging, and GTB Ibérica, built on shared values of data quality, technological excellence, and customer commitment.
