Leica Geosystems expands 3D machine control compatibility options for Caterpillar Next Gen Wheeled Excavators

  • Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, expands 3D machine control compatibility to Caterpillar Next Gen Wheeled Excavators.
  • The Leica MC1 solution boosts accuracy, efficiency, and sustainability across Caterpillar equipment.
  • Available March 2026, the new aftermarket system streamlines installation and enhances performance.

HEERBRUGG, SWITZERLAND: Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, today announced the expansion of its offerings to deliver advanced aftermarket 3D machine control solutions for Caterpillar’s Next Gen Wheeled Excavators.

After the successful 2023 launch of the Leica MC1 3D machine control solution for Caterpillar’s Next Gen Hydraulic Tracked Excavators, Leica Geosystems is expanding its 3D machine control offering to meet the growing demand from Caterpillar wheeled excavator users.

The new aftermarket solution for Next Gen Wheeled Excavators will be available starting in March 2026, providing operators with enhanced precision, efficiency, and productivity. Easily installed on Caterpillar’s industry-leading Wheeled Excavators, the Leica MC1 3D machine control solution enables operators to execute complex excavation tasks with greater accuracy and confidence.

“With Leica Geosystems machine control now easier to set up on Caterpillar’s Next Gen Wheeled Excavators, operators benefit from a smoother start and can get to work faster,” says Martin Verdurmen, President, Machine Control Division, Hexagon. “The Leica MC1 solution is tailored to enhance performance, reduce downtime, and support sustainable construction practices. Paired with Caterpillar’s tough machines, it gives operators a reliable setup for everyday work on site.”

Customers interested in leveraging the benefits of Leica Geosystems’ 3D machine control solution with their Caterpillar Next Gen 2D Tracked or Wheeled Excavators can inquire about compatibility requirements, licensing options, and support at their local CAT dealer. The sale and support of the Leica MC1 3D aftermarket machine control system will be managed through authorised Leica Geosystems channels.
