PPS announces Chameleon 2026 tactile visualisation platform

Enhanced software accelerates analysis and interpretation of tactile data ~

Tactile sensor specialist PPS has announced Chameleon 2026, the latest generation in tactile visualisation, acquisition, and data interpretation software. Developed at the company’s engineering headquarters based in the United Kingdom, Chameleon 2026 is currently provided as a beta release with newly shipped PPS systems, giving engineers and researchers an immediate and clearer view of how surfaces interact through contact and pressure, supported by a significantly improved user interface. It provides a faster and more intuitive environment for collecting, analysing and interpreting pressure data from PPS sensor systems. The final release and standalone licensing model are planned following completion of beta testing.

The new software generation strengthens PPS’s position as a developer of high-performance tactile measurement systems used for comfort, fit and ergonomics across wearable technology and advanced product development. Chameleon 2026 refines the way users manage and interpret tactile information, improving productivity and data reliability. The software introduces a faster and more precise signal-processing core that reduces noise and enhances sensitivity, delivering clearer insight from every contact interaction. Its streamlined interface makes it easier to navigate large sensor arrays, helping users find pressure changes faster and move smoothly from live testing to post-analysis with minimal adjustment.

“Few commercial tools provide comparable integration between data capture and analysis,” explains Dr Jae Son, Chief Executive Officer at PPS. “Chameleon 2026 retains the core strengths of previous versions but adds improved GUI, video resolution, and enhanced annotation features.

“Along with expanded options for data export and presentation, engineers can monitor average, peak and centre-of-pressure values in real time, record experiments for team review and copy visualisations directly into design documentation. This results in a more connected workflow that massively enhances collaboration and data interpretation.”

Customers purchasing the latest generation of PPS hardware currently receive a beta version of Chameleon 2026 as part of the system. The software will continue to evolve through the beta phase, with standalone licensing and optional enhancement packages planned for release once testing and licensing infrastructure are complete.

PPS has positioned Chameleon 2026 as a core element in its continuing programme to simplify tactile data handling for high-resolution measurements in demanding applications. Chameleon tactile visualisation and acquisition software enables users to export, replay, save and interpret data through a flexible interface that connects directly to common analytical platforms such as MATLAB, Excel and Mathcad. The system visualises sensor outputs through multiple display modes, including 2D and 3D heat-maps, mesh plots and line traces, and can synchronise pressure data with recorded video to show how forces evolve over time.

With Chameleon 2026, PPS has re-examined every part of the user experience to provide a more insightful tool to engineers and researchers that keeps pace with the capabilities of their latest sensor, so subtle contact behaviour is captured and understood with greater confidence.
