FARO® Expands its 3D Measurement Portfolio with the HandySCAN BLACK | Elite Through Alignment with Creaform

Lake Mary, FL, October 21, 2025 — FARO®, a business unit of AMETEK®, Inc., today announced the addition of the HandySCAN BLACK™|Elite as the first initiative under its recent strategic partnership with Creaform.

Following its acquisition by AMETEK earlier this year, FARO, Creaform, and Virtek now operate within the same division, the Ultra Precision Technologies Division, creating a robust product portfolio. The introduction of the handheld scanner to the FARO lineup reflects the close collaboration between the two companies, with a shared focus on delivering integrated solutions for the manufacturing sector.

HandySCAN BLACK|Elite has been part of the Creaform lineup since 2019 and has demonstrated its value as a significant player in the handheld scanning market. Optimized to meet the needs of design, manufacturing, and metrology professionals, the scanner is a metrology-grade handheld solution built for accurate and reliable 3D measurement across various part sizes, surface types, and materials.

The product will now integrate with CAM2, so existing FARO customers can remain within their native software ecosystem, while newcomers to the 3D scanning market can experience the best of what the software has to offer.

“HandySCAN BLACK|Elite is an exceptional scanner and has proven to be a most effective metrology-grade handheld solution,” said Fanny Truchon, President and Business Unit Manager at Creaform and FARO. “When combined with FARO’s existing CAM2 software, it becomes a valuable addition to the 3D measurement lineup, benefiting FARO customers. The partnership highlights both companies’ commitment to advancing 3D metrology technologies and delivering innovative solutions that enhance quality and performance in the highly competitive manufacturing industry.”

Customers can learn more about the HandySCAN BLACK|Elite on FARO.com and book a demo with the scanning professionals at FARO.
