Omron releases new GigE Vision line scan cameras with Power over Ethernet functionality

Industry-leading automation solutions provider Omron Automation Americas broadens its vision portfolio with compact GigE Vision line scan cameras featuring Power over Ethernet (PoE) and Precision Time Protocol technology.

Hoffman Estates, IL.,  – Omron Automation Americas, an industry leader in complete automation solutions for manufacturing and related industries, is releasing an update to its FS Series GigE Vision® line scan cameras. Available in 2K, 4K and 8K resolutions and with single-line monochrome and upcoming dual-line monochrome and color formats, these cameras serve as excellent additions to Omron’s already robust and high-performing GigE Vision line. F-Mount, C-Mount and M42-Mount lens configurations are available.

GigE Vision is a global camera interface standard that uses the Gigabit Ethernet communication protocol to provide fast image transfer with cost-effective standard cables over long distances. Omron’s updated FS Series incorporates this highly sought-after technology along with Power over Ethernet (PoE), which lets users to supply power and transfer image data on a single Ethernet cable to help reduce system costs and simplify installation and setup. It also puts Omron among the limited number of camera vendors currently offering GigE Vision line scan cameras with PoE technology.

Another important feature of the new cameras is the Precision Time Protocol (PTP), which enables more precise multi-camera triggering over an entire system by lowering the latency when multiple cameras on the same system are triggered simultaneously. The new cameras’ compact design and 58 x 58 mm frame makes them ideal for a wide variety of applications, including optical scanning, waterfall sorting, web and print inspection, flat panel inspection, and pick-and-place. As the first GigE Vision line scan cameras Omron has released, the updated FS Series adds flexibility to the automation partner’s expanded vision portfolio.
