Intermap, Lufthansa Systems Announce Certification of Lido Surface Data NEXTView™

DENVER, CO – Intermap Technologies (“Intermap” or the “Company”), a global leader in geospatial intelligence solutions, today announced with its aviation solution partner Lufthansa Systems GmbH & Co KG (“Lufthansa Systems”) the certification of Lido Surface Data NEXTView™ (“NEXTView”), the world’s first high-resolution, global geospatial terrain dataset. NEXTView provides unprecedented global situational awareness for aviation applications by combining high-resolution terrain, obstacle, and aerodrome information into a single coherent and uniform global dataset. There are more than 6,000 commercial airlines that spend over $68 billion for on-board avionics systems that are going to benefit from this upgrade, many of which are already customers of Lufthansa Systems.

NEXTView has now received EASA’s Service Provider Certificate Type 1 and fulfills the following three industry standards:

  • RTCA DO-200B: Standards for processing aeronautical data
  • RTCA DO-276C: User requirements for terrain and obstacle data
  • RTCA DO-291C: Interchange standards for terrain, obstacle, and aerodrome mapping data

With certification, NEXTView is now compatible with avionics systems around the world and ready for installation in commercial passenger aircraft and helicopters. The integration of NEXTView with terrain avoidance and warning systems (TAWS) prevents accidents by enabling aircraft to maintain a safe distance from the ground. Synthetic Vision Systems (SVS) are enhanced with greater detail of the surroundings, providing pilots with situational awareness.

NEXTView is also serving a wider aviation market beyond avionics. UAV delivery companies use NEXTView to increase efficiency of flight operations through better route planning and delivery zone planning. Civil aviation authorities use NEXTView for air traffic route design and compliance with ICAO Annex 15 requirements. Governments around the world are testing NEXTView to support operations in austere environments where GPS is unavailable or denied.

“This announcement is a landmark for Intermap’s data business,” commented Patrick Blott, Chairman and CEO of Intermap. “With the certification of NEXTView, we are now able to deliver, repeatedly and on a global scale, through our partners at Lufthansa Systems, critical high-resolution information that aviators and airlines need to improve customer experience, navigation, and safety. Commercial airlines, UAV companies, and governments all over the world can rely on their subscriptions to NEXTView data to power critical automated systems and save lives.”

“Together with our partner Intermap, we are extremely proud to be the first ones to receive an EASA service provider Type 1 certificate for this next generation digital surface model tailored to the needs of the aviation industry,” said Michael Sauter, Senior Product Owner Aeronautical Data at Lufthansa Systems. “Lido Surface Data NEXTView is further enriching our aeronautical data portfolio, and delivers a fundamental database for the increasingly digitally-driven future of mobility.”
