Travelers Uses 3-D Technology from HOVER to Help Make Property Damage Inspections Quicker and Safer

HARTFORD, Conn.- The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV) today announced it is using HOVER to assist in assessing property damage. HOVER’s technology transforms smartphone photos of any property into an accurate three-dimensional (3-D) model, gathering precise measurements of a building’s exterior, including its roof, siding and windows.

Travelers claim professionals can use HOVER to easily inspect damages without the risks that come with climbing ladders, and policyholders can use HOVER to submit their information without having to schedule an on-site inspection.

“Our focus is always on getting our customers’ lives back to normal as quickly as possible after a loss, and we’re continuously looking for new ways to enhance their experience with us,” said Nick Seminara, Executive Vice President of Claim Services at Travelers. “Using HOVER’s technology allows us to do just that — providing a faster and easier claim process for our customers and a safer environment for our employees. We are pleased to be working with the HOVER team and look forward to identifying other applications for their platform throughout our organization.”

Travelers began a pilot program with HOVER in November 2018 and has conducted more than 50,000 inspections with the technology for both its personal and business insurance customers.

A.J. Altman, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of HOVER, said, “Travelers continues to be at the forefront of innovation in the property casualty insurance industry. Their risk management expertise combined with their use of new technologies is driving better customer experiences. We are thrilled to work with an exceptional partner like Travelers that sees the value in having the most current, accurate and complete property data package to resolve claims.”

Travelers has recently made other digital enhancements to its claim process, such as enabling live chat features, conducting video estimates and providing claim payment capabilities through services like PayPal. The company also utilizes an extensive fleet of drones to assess property damage, which expedites inspections, payments and repairs for its customers while helping to protect its claim professionals. One of the largest commercial users of drones in the United States, Travelers has more than 700 FAA-certified drone pilots.
