GeoCalc SDK 7.5 Released with an Expanded Geodetic Database and Improved Import and Export Options.

Hallowell, Maine  – Blue Marble Geographics (bluemarblegeo.com) is pleased to announce the immediate availability of version 7.5 of the GeoCalc Software Development Kit (SDK). Widely regarded as the preeminent geodetic toolkit, GeoCalc is at the core of countless geospatial applications, providing powerful coordinate and datum management and conversion capabilities for custom software development. Highlights of the 7.5 version release include new projections and coordinate systems, improved interoperability with expanded import and export of geodetic parameters, and optimized search and display in the GeoCalc dialog boxes.

Blue Marble’s GeoCalc engine is universally recognized as the benchmark for efficient and accurate coordinate management. The geodetic foundation of countless popular software titles, including Blue Marble’s Geographic Calculator, GeoCalc provides GIS, GPS, surveying, engineering, and mapping applications with the foremost coordinate transformation capabilities. The GeoCalc database is comprised of over 12,000 coordinate system objects including linear and angular units, ellipsoids, geodetic datums, and coordinate reference systems. GeoCalc also contains advanced geomatic tools such as vertical datums, grid shifts, time-dependent coordinate transformation models, and the ability to generate custom best-fit transformations and custom coordinate objects of any type.

Among the additions to GeoCalc’s geodetic database in the latest version are the Norway Vertical Normal System, NZGD2000 to NZVD2016, the xGeoid16B and xGeoid17A&B experimental geoid models from the NGS, a new Equal Earth Projection, and version 3.7 of NOAA’s VDATUM. Supplementing these individual enhancements, GeoCalc 7.5 incorporates version 9.6.3 of the EPSG database ensuring the most accurate conversion and transformation results.

The version 7.5 release also boasts enhanced WKT, PRJ, and GeoTIFF coordinate system matching, expanded support for CTL import and export, and bulk import and export of WKT2 CRS and CT definitions.

“With the major overhaul of the North American geospatial reference framework scheduled for 2022, the time to time to begin preparing is now,” stated Patrick Cunningham, Blue Marble President. “As is evident in the release of version 7.5, the GeoCalc SDK is being continually updated and improved and will provide software developers with the tools necessary to smoothly navigate this transition.”
