Esri Releases Study Guide for the ArcGIS Desktop Professional Exam

REDLANDS, Calif.- Esri, the global leader in location intelligence, today announced the publication of Esri ArcGIS Desktop Professional Certification Study Guide. The guide is designed to help certification candidates review and reinforce their skills and knowledge of Esri’s ArcGIS software in preparation for taking the ArcGIS Desktop Professional Certification exam. The exam, offered by the Esri Technical Certification Program, measures proficiency in a candidate’s ability to visualize, manage, and analyze geospatial data. Candidates who pass the test earn a certification recognizing their expertise in the use of ArcGIS.

Chapters in Esri ArcGIS Desktop Professional Certification Study Guide parallel exam sections and address GIS concepts and their practical applications. Study guide users follow a three-part structure that includes reviewing ArcGIS documentation topics that candidates need to know for the exam; practicing with included assignments or with specified, continually updated online resources; then checking their skills against a list of tasks that candidates should be able to perform.

The study guide covers topics such as data storage, data management, visualization and sharing, and analysis and geoprocessing. The book is meant to help exam takers identify gaps in their skills and refresh their knowledge rather than prepare them for the specific questions that will be asked during the exam.

The guide’s author, Mike Flanagan, is an instructor team lead at Esri. In addition to teaching, Flanagan has supported the development of Esri Technical Certification exams, and he has achieved ArcGIS Desktop Professional, ArcGIS Desktop Associate, and ArcGIS Desktop Entry certifications.

The e-book version of Esri ArcGIS Desktop Professional Certification Study Guide (ISBN: 9781589485365, US$49.99) is available at most online book retailers. The print edition is available for purchase at popular book retailers or by calling 1-800-447-9778, and it includes access to a 180-day trial version of ArcGIS Desktop. Outside the United States, visit esri.com/esripressorders for complete ordering options, or visit esri.com/distributors to contact your local Esri distributor. Interested retailers can contact Esri book distributor Ingram Publisher Services.
