AssetWorks Adds MDM Capabilities to Family of FiRE Mobile Apps

SAN ANTONIO – AssetWorks is pleased to announce that with the release of version 9.0 of its flagship AiM Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) it has added the ability to manage and administer FiRE mobile apps with an MDM (Mobile Device Management) system, which automatically pushes the proper version of software out to users in the field.

FiRE mobile apps are used by organizations with an extensive portfolio of facilities to extend the power of AiM’s facility management software to field personnel on their iOS-based mobile devices. The family of FiRE mobile solutions includes: FiRE Asset Management (for inspections and more), FiRE Operations and Maintenance, FiRE Capital Planning and Project Management, FiRE Purchasing and FiRE Receiving.

Without a simple way to push software updates to the entire workforce, many organizations delay upgrading software to avoid the headache of pulling in all mobile devices to manually update apps. The use of an MDM allows administrators to push out updates to all mobile devices – eliminating the need to pull devices for app updates.

Shanda Foster, of Auburn University noted:

“The ability to centrally manage FiRE Operations & Maintenance has been a game changer for us.  With over 300 Fire O&M users, there were times that we would hold off on upgrading AiM due to the logistics of pulling in all the mobile devices to update the FiRE app.  We tried sending step by step instructions to end users on how to delete the existing app, download the new version and input the default settings – with very little success.

We are now able to do all of this without touching a single device.  We remove the old app, push out the new one, and unless our end users have moved the app to a certain spot on their device, they don’t even realize a change was made… MDM has turned what was quickly becoming a maintenance nightmare to a near-seamless experience.

The MDM solutions work in conjunction with AssetWorks’ existing suite of mobile solutions (FiRE). Because AssetWorks implemented using the Appconfig community best practices, FiRE mobile solutions work with a variety of mobile device management solutions available.

The FiRE family of apps provides organizations with solutions for a more agile, flexible, and productive workforce. These apps put the facilities management power of AiM in the hands of field personnel, streamlining processes and eliminating paperwork – while providing access to facilities and asset information in the field.
