Sanborn Launches Mezurit.com for Subscription-Based Oblique Imagery Viewing and Analytics

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. —  The Sanborn Map Company, Inc. (Sanborn) announces the launch of its new Mezurit.com service that allows subscribers to accurately measure anything captured in the company’s aerial imagery database. MezuritTM provides online access to oblique aerial imagery and easy-to-use software tools for measurement and analysis of imagery from Sanborn’s rapidly growing collection of U.S. cities. Subscribers can access data for an entire city or just a small area of interest. Once the desired area is selected, after purchase with a credit card, bank transfer or purchase order, the Mezurit online viewer allows users to instantly glean critical information from all five imagery views. Subscribers can choose a period of time that works for any schedule or budget—an hour, a day, a week, a month or even a year. Visit Mezurit.com for a free demo.

High-res Mezurit oblique imagery is created by using five aerial cameras to capture nadir (straight down) and four 45° oblique angle views. To ensure positional accuracy, images are acquired from aircraft equipped with GPS and inertial navigation systems, allowing Sanborn to aero-triangulate all five views. Imagery is then combined with elevation data to produce highly accurate oblique imagery datasets.

Mezurit.com delivers the following capabilities:
•Quickly locate imagery for a specific address with the address search feature.
•Show the latitude / longitude coordinates and elevation of any point selected.
•Measure the height, length, area, or surface slope of any structure or feature in the image.
•Annotate images with lines, polygons, and text.
•Create PDFs to easily share with others.

“We designed Mezurit to include powerful viewing and analysis tools, have flexible subscription options, and to be easy-to-use,” explains Sharad Oberoi, Sanborn director of IT and Software Engineering. “It’s also compatible with tablets, so it can be adapted conveniently to a wide range of workflows.”

Uses for Mezurit

Engineers and Architects can evaluate and better understand construction site environments–and even calculate solar potential. Assessors can view properties from all directions to determine where taxes should be assigned due to structure additions. Realtors and Developers can generate aerial shots of properties for use in marketing materials. City planners can use Mezurit to maximize an area’s development potential. Emergency responders can analyze buildings and properties to discern what resources may be needed, and how to best access a location.
