Trimble Field Link Makes Construction Layout Easier—Scales to Contractors’ Needs

Trimble released Trimble® Field Link version 4.0, the latest version of its construction layout software for measuring and creating layout positions for anchor bolts, hangers, cable trays and other common construction layout tasks. With new modular software features and enhanced task-based workflows that work across a range of layout positioning instruments, Trimble Field Link provides general contractors and MEP contractors with a single solution for layout and QA workflows that is both flexible and scalable. These new features and workflows increase productivity and accuracy in the field, reduce rework and delivers greater return on investment.

New in Trimble Field Link Version 4.0:

  • One software for all layout tasks – With a new, simplified user interface (UI) and improved task-based workflows, Trimble Field Link now works with a range of instruments for both interior and exterior layout including Trimble Robotic Total Stations, the Trimble Rapid Positioning System and GNSS receivers. Field layout crews can now use the most suitable positioning technology for unique layout tasks—without switching between multiple controller units or field software, and no additional training.
  • Modular solution – New modular feature packs provide contractors the flexibility to implement only the functionality that they need, and to scale incrementally as their business grows. Customers start with a core software module with a full range of construction layout management functionality and can add premium features tailored to meet specific layout needs as their requirements evolve.
  • Advanced layer control – Enhanced features, based on customer feedback, provide easier and advanced layer control included in the model file, enabling teams to work faster and with increased confidence.
  • Direct interface with Trimble Connect – UI enhancements provide a seamless connection to files via Trimble Connect, a cloud-based collaboration platform allowing teams to access, analyze, manage and share project data from the cloud anywhere, at any time.  2D drawings, 3D models, and field layout points can be seamlessly passed between the office and field using the cloud with Trimble Connect and Trimble Field Link, ensuring field crews not only have up to date coordinated models but as-built points are easily documented and sent to the office.

In addition, Trimble released Trimble Field Link Office, a software that allows users to review and create layout points without the use of 3D modeling or CAD programs. Ideal for teams without in-house 3D modeling capacity and those just starting the transition from manual layout methods, this software enables project managers and BIM managers to check layout data with the same interface that the field crews use, enabling them to ensure the files they are sending to field are replicated as expected. Users can also easily create or import data from 2D plans and 3D models and check data prior to field layout, without the use of AutoCAD or Revit. Trimble Field Link Office is available for a 30 day free trial.

AVAILABILITY:

Trimble Field Link 4.0 and Trimble Field Link Office are available now through Trimble’s Authorized Distributors of layout solutions from Trimble’s MEP and General Contractor / Construction Manager Divisions.
