During the opening address at the GIS Conference Dr. Russell Howorth said every effort would be made to ensure that Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing are adequately resourced to serve the needs of the Pacific region. Howorth is the Director of the SOPAC Division of the Secretariat of the South Pacific Community (SPC).
