TerraByte partners with SkyFi to bring search directly to satellite imagery

By combiningTerraByte’s natural-language geospatial search capabilities with its Earth intelligence platform, SkyFi is connecting discovery with action for users. The partnership helps users to pinpoint locations and areas of interest and then to purchase high-resolution, up-to-date imagery of that exact location without leaving the workflow.

AI company TerraByte’s geospatial foundation model searches satellite imagery by what is actually visible in it: the pixels themselves, rather than by metadata or map labels. A user can type a plain-language query, such as “wind turbines in the Netherlands” or “copper mines in Australia” and get back a list of real locations anywhere on the globe. From there, SkyFi’s commercial satellite imagery, analytics and tasking platform provides the commercial layer: access to more than 300 satellite and aerial imagery sources through a network of more than 40 partners, with standard delivery in under 24 hours.

How the partnership works

The partnership pairs TerraByte’s search capabilities with SkyFi’s commercial satellite imagery, analytics and tasking platform, closing the gap between finding a location and acquiring an image of it. Rather than requiring coordinates or GIS expertise, TerraByte’s foundation model lets users search by content, surfacing objects such as power plants, refineries, ports and wind farms directly from open and archival imagery.

That search now connects straight into SkyFi’s imagery pipeline. A user who locates the Port of Los Angeles, or searches more broadly for ports across California, can move directly into SkyFi to view the latest available imagery or task a new capture, turning a discovery into an up to date image in a single workflow.
