Quantum Systems has been selected by Japan’s Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency (ATLA) to participate in the country’s Counter-UAS Proof-of-Concept Program, the company announced.

The initiative is part of ATLA’s Early Acquisition Program, which is designed to evaluate and accelerate the deployment of next-generation interceptor drone capabilities for the Japan Self-Defense Forces.

The selection expands Quantum Systems’ work with allied defense organizations in the Indo-Pacific and highlights growing international interest in interoperable counter-unmanned aircraft system technologies.

“Our selection by ATLA reflects the growing international demand for interoperable counter-UAS capabilities,” Martin Karkour, Quantum Systems’ chief revenue officer, said in a statement. He said the program will allow the company to contribute operational expertise while strengthening long-term industrial and defense cooperation with Japan.

Quantum Systems said participation in the program marks another step in its international expansion and reinforces its focus on developing autonomous systems designed to address evolving airborne threats.
