onocoy partners with China’s Sixents to expand GNSS hardware ecosystem

Global decentralized positioning network onocoy is bringing a new geodetic-grade reference station to market in partnership with Sixents Technology (Beijing). This signals the continued buildout of the startup’s third-party hardware ecosystem.

The deal sees Sixents – a professional positioning solution provider headquartered in Beijing – launch the G20 multi-band GNSS reference receiver, a reference station engineered specifically to integrate with onocoy’s decentralized correction network. The unit is available for immediate order at a promotional price of US$549, bundled with a GNSS antenna, cables, power supply and mounting kit.

Zero-configuration integration

The G20 supports full multi-constellation coverage across GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS, and carries a wide operating temperature range, from -40°C to +80°C, making it suitable for deployment in demanding environments. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Ethernet and LoRa. Notably, the device ships with a built-in NTRIP server that allows zero-configuration integration with the onocoy network, removing the software overhead that has historically complicated reference station deployments.

Thomas Nigg, CEO of onocoy Service AG, framed the partnership as a validation of the network’s hardware strategy. “We are very pleased to welcome Sixents, one of the leading correction service providers in China, to onocoy’s hardware partnership programme,” he said. “Sixents brings deep expertise in network operations, and that experience shows in the G20. A company that runs correction networks knows exactly what an optimal reference station needs to look like: reliable data quality, straightforward deployment and stable long-term performance. That is precisely what the G20 delivers.”

“Shortcomings in the GNSS market”

For Sixents, the partnership represents an endorsement of onocoy’s broader market thesis – that the GNSS correction industry’s traditional vertically integrated model is ripe for disruption. Yang Li, CEO of Sixents Technology, said: “onocoy’s horizontal business model is genuinely innovative and addresses one of the most persistent shortcomings in the GNSS market: the vertical lock-in that keeps correction data expensive and coverage uneven. The idea of separating infrastructure operation from service provision, and enabling community participation at scale, is a compelling vision. Onocoy operates a blockchain-based marketplace that decouples the operation of GNSS reference stations from the delivery of correction services, allowing independent operators – referred to as miners – to contribute data and earn rewards. The network currently spans more than 7,800 reference stations across 168 countries and delivers centimetre-level RTK corrections via NTRIP.
