National EISSI Awards season kicks off

The 2026 Excellence in Surveying & Spatial Information Awards season has begun.

Having been restricted to NSW for more than 25 years, the geographic spread of the awards has been expanding across the nation over the past 12 months, with South Australia included this year for the first time.

Nominations have now opened for the South Australian awards, with the awardees to be announced at a special awards dinner on Friday, 7 August 2026. Nominations close 19 June.

The award categories are:

  • Infrastructure & Construction
  • Extra Dimension & Innovation
  • Community & Sustainable Environment
  • Rural Cadastral Surveying & Land Titling
  • Urban Cadastral Surveying & Land Titling
  • Surveying Project Management
  • Mine Surveying
  • University Student Project of the Year
  • Outstanding Overall Industry Project Award
  • Vocational Student of the Year
  • Young Professional Surveyor of the Year
  • Professional Surveyor of the Year
  • Professional Organisation of the Year

Nominations are also open for Queensland (deadline 17 July) and Western Australia (4 September), with Victoria and New South Wales soon to follow.

Surveyors Australia is inviting surveyors, spatial professionals, businesses, government agencies, educators and emerging professionals to nominate themselves or others and be recognised for their achievements.

The dates for the other states’ award presentation nights are as follows:

  • Queensland: 12 September 2026
  • New South Wales: 19 September 2026
  • Victoria: 10 October 2026
  • Western Australia: 30 October 2026

All of the successful state recipients will automatically become finalists in the 2026 National EISSI Awards, the presentation ceremony for which will be held on 5 February 2027 in Canberra.
