Des Plaines, IL – [December 11, 2025] – The GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) proudly announces the successful completion of the second cohort of 45 new GISP-Es (Emerging GIS Professional). This cohort is another significant step in the evolution of professional development for the next generation of geographic information systems (GIS) practitioners.

The GISP-E certification serves as a key entry point for individuals beginning their journey toward the full GISP credential. It recognizes early-career professionals who demonstrate strong potential and commitment to advancing in the field of geospatial science and technology.

“We are thrilled to welcome this next group of GISP-E certified professionals,” said Tony Spicci, Executive Director, of GISCI. “Their success underscores the importance of creating pathways for aspiring GIS professionals and ensuring a high standard of excellence from the very beginning of their careers.”

The GISP-E certification is part of GISCI’s broader mission to promote professional competence, integrity, and lifelong learning within the GIS community. It provides early recognition for emerging talent while encouraging ongoing professional development toward full GISP certification.
