Cyclomedia, a Global Leader in Geospatial Data Technology, Acquires Detekt, an AI-based Road Surface Analytics Business

ZALTBOMMEL, Netherlands — Cyclomedia, a global leader in geospatial data technology, announced the acquisition of Detekt, a Vienna-based AI business specializing in road surface analytics.

Detekt has built a leading AI-powered platform that ingests mobile mapping data to automatically detect, classify, and extract road surface defects, markings and assets. Purpose-built for governments and infrastructure clients, the solution is field-proven, highly accurate and scalable, with workflows designed for large-scale tenders and projects across the world.

The acquisition will materially strengthen Cyclomedia’s global Data Insights capabilities, accelerating its competitiveness in road surface analytics and enhancing its broader geospatial offering over time. Detekt also brings a team of highly skilled computer vision and machine learning engineers, further advancing Cyclomedia’s ability to deliver AI-driven insights across markets.

“We’re delighted to add this extraordinary talent to our existing team to further strengthen and build on our AI capabilities and apply this to our data insights products and services as well as enhancing our existing technology stack. We see an increasing demand for high precision data insights across the verticals we serve as well as wanting to accelerate our own internal agenda when it comes to leveraging AI within our business,” said Sean Fernback, Chief Executive Officer of Cyclomedia.

Clemens Wasner, CEO & Founder of Detekt, added, “We are excited to join Cyclomedia, the global leader in reality capture. Our organizations share a deep commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to deliver exceptional value to our customers while continually enhancing our own capabilities.”

“As investors in Cyclomedia, we view the acquisition of Detekt as a strong step in advancing the company’s Data Insights strategy. The combination of Cyclomedia’s scale in reality capture with Detekt’s proven AI capabilities will enhance competitiveness in road surface analytics, open up new opportunities across infrastructure and government tenders, and create long-term value for customers and stakeholders alike,” said Crevan O’Grady, Managing Partner at Volpi Capital.
