Vexcel Announces 2025 Aerial Imagery Collection Program for the U.S.

CENTENNIAL, Colo.— Vexcel Data Program, the world’s largest aerial imagery program, has announced its 2025 collection plan for the United States, reaffirming its annual commitment to delivering high-resolution, highly accurate, and up-to-date imagery. The program will cover 5.1 million km² across the contiguous U.S., refreshing its extensive library with new imagery for 93% of the U.S. population and 120 million households.

Oblique Imagery will be refreshed in urban areas in 2025.

Vexcel will capture 1.6 million km² at 7.5cm resolution and 3.5 million km² at 15cm resolution, covering metro areas, suburban regions, and rural areas. Major cities will be updated up to three times per year, delivering more frequent, high-resolution imagery for industries such as insurance, government, transportation, telecom, utilities, high tech, and high-definition mapping.

Meeting the Growing Demand for High-Quality Imagery

“Demand for aerial imagery continues to grow across many sectors,” said Erik Jorgensen, Vexcel CEO. “Through ongoing innovation in our Vexcel Imaging UltraCam sensors and processing pipelines, we’ve continued to optimize and expand our collection programs to deliver the freshest, highest-resolution, and most consistent dataset available. With expansive urban and rural coverage across the U.S., our customers can rely on a single, trusted source for accurate location data—reducing the need to piece together aerial imagery from multiple providers.”

Comprehensive 2025 Collection Plan

Vexcel will deploy a fleet of fixed-wing aircraft, equipped with its industry-leading UltraCam sensors, to execute the collection plan, which includes:

  • Capturing 5.1 million km² of aerial imagery across the contiguous U.S.
  • Refreshing imagery for 93% of the U.S. population and 120 million households
  • Publishing 1.6 million km² at 7.5cm resolution, covering nearly 7,000 cities and 87% of the U.S. population
  • Collecting 3.5 million km² at 15cm resolution, capturing coverage across metro areas, suburban regions, and rural areas
  • Capturing major metro areas up to three times per year
  • Producing a wide range of geospatial products, including Ortho, Oblique, and Multispectral imagery, elevation models (DSM and DTM), and AI-derived datasets (Elements: Property Attributes and Roadways)

Expanding the Largest Aerial Imagery Library

Vexcel operates the largest aerial imagery program in the U.S., collecting up to four times more area annually than its nearest competitors. Its historical archive spans back to 2012 and includes multiple collections across the entire Lower 48 and Hawaii cities.
