1Spatial supports AtkinsRéalis and Ordnance Survey to deliver the National Underground Asset Register

Cambridge, UK, 8th October 2024, (www.1spatial.comThe National Underground Asset Register (NUAR), supported by 1Spatial’s patented technology, is improving the efficiency and safety of the way we install, maintain, operate and repair our buried infrastructure by providing secure access to data from public and private sector asset owners. These will include over 600 gas, water, electric and telecommunications companies and local authorities.

1Spatial specialises in data integration and quality. Our patented technology facilitates the seamless standardisation and management of complex asset datasets. Over the past 3 years, we have worked with hundreds of infrastructure organisations, including gas, water, electric and telecommunications companies to ensure that their data meets the standards required by NUAR.

1Spatial will continue to provide support to AtkinsRéalis and Ordnance Survey in the development of the NUAR digital service. Our collaborative efforts have been instrumental to the project’s success. We extend our sincere gratitude to the team at AtkinsRéalis and look forward to working with Ordnance Survey, as we continue this important work on a strategic UK Government project.

Guy Ledger, Divisional Digital Director, AtkinsRéalis comments – “I’m delighted that we have an opportunity to continue working with 1Spatial to ensure the successful transition of NUAR.”

Quote from Claire Milverton about supporting AtkinsRéalis “We are immensely proud of our collaboration with AtkinsRéalis and Ordnance Survey on the National Underground Asset Register (NUAR). The project exemplifies the exceptional contributions of everyone involved. Together, as one team, we are making substantial progress on this strategic UK Government initiative. I am confident in our continued success and the positive impact we will collectively achieve.”

The Geospatial Commission has now appointed Ordnance Survey to operate NUAR, with the service transitioning to public beta in spring 2025. 1Spatial is proud to continue providing support to the project to make a positive impact.

Pioneers in Location Master Data Management (LMDM), 1Spatial plc helps organisations use location data to develop strong data foundations, enabling informed and confident decision-making for a safer, smarter and more sustainable world. Operating at the intersection of two fast-growing global markets, GIS (geospatial information systems) and MDM (master data management), our patented technology powers some of the largest and most complex data sets in the world, such as the US Census Bureau and Ordnance Survey UK.

Demand for current and authoritative geospatial data has never been greater, often driven by sustainability and Net Zero goals. In every sector, organisations are using location data to make better decisions – improving profits, saving time and saving lives. Over the past 30 years, we have helped more than one thousand organisations improve the governance and quality of their data across a range of industries, with our core focus areas being Government, Public Safety, AEC, Utilities and Transportation.

The driving force behind our technology is the 1Spatial Platform, a no-code cloud-based integrated data system (or ecosystem). Flexible, intuitive, and powerful, this collection of 1Spatial products can transform, validate and process complex data at speed and at scale, saving our customers time, money and resources by automating the data management process.

Using our technology, combined with our data expertise, we connect all elements of the data ecosystem together, while enabling continued data governance and quality – even as the data continues to evolve. This approach, which we call ‘Location Master Data Management’, ensures that spatial (and non-spatial) data remain current, complete, accessible, accurate and uniform, removing any formatting roadblocks that may impede data integration or interoperability.

We partner with major technology consultancies and GIS providers such as ESRI, bringing together our people, innovative solutions, industry knowledge and experience to deliver world class solutions.

1Spatial plc is AIM-listed, headquartered in Cambridge, UK, with operations in the UK, Ireland, USA, France, Belgium, Tunisia, and Australia.
