Descartes Labs Welcomes Keith Masback to Board of Directors

SANTA FE, New Mexico – Descartes Labs announced the appointment of former U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) President and CEO, Keith Masback, to its Board of Directors. As the newly appointed board member he will also serve as an advisor to Descartes Labs subsidiary, Descartes Labs Government, which is unveiling its new Retina (Rapid Exploitation Through Interactive Analysis) OSINT/GEOINT intelligence extraction solution at the 2024 GEOINT Symposium.

“Keith Masback is a welcome addition to the Descartes Labs’ Board,” said Descartes Labs CEO, Richard Davis. “Keith’s wealth of experience in geospatial intelligence will assist us in achieving our goal of changing the way government agencies see the world, through Retina and our other geospatial analytics solutions.”

Mr. Masback is the owner of Plum Run, LLC, providing advisory and consulting services primarily to startups working in geospatial intelligence and other deep tech fields. He is also an early-stage investor. Prior to founding Plum Run, he served for more than a decade as President/CEO of USGIF.

Before joining USGIF, Mr. Masback spent over 20 years serving in the U.S. Army and as a government civilian employee. He began his professional career in the U.S. Army, serving as an Infantry officer in the Berlin Brigade and a Military Intelligence officer at both XVIII Airborne Corps and on the Army Staff (G-2 & G-3). As a government civilian employee, he culminated as a member of the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Prior to NGA, he was a senior civilian on the Army Staff, responsible for planning the future of Army Intelligence and serving as the Army’s first Director of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Integration.

Mr. Masback will be attending the GEOINT Symposium in Kissimmee, Fla., where Descartes Labs Government (DLG) is launching Retina, an innovative solution that integrates Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) and Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) for rapid intelligence extraction, enabling government agencies to see the world in real-time clarity through a single, streamlined interface.

Retina is the latest solution in DLG’s longstanding history of advanced geospatial science leveraging AI and ML. Retina simplifies complex data sources, efficiently manages information, aggregates verified sources, and delivers near-real time event reporting. This solution empowers intelligence communities to address the world’s most pressing challenges by uncovering complex patterns to identify and monitor geopolitical, economic, and environmental threats.

Visit the DLG team at GEOINT 2024, booth #2003 for the unveiling of Retina and experience the power of revolutionary geospatial science through data-agnostic, deep-tech solutions. To speak with the Descartes Labs Government team at GEOINT, schedule a time here.
