USGIF Welcomes Gary Dunow as New Vice President for Strategic Development

Herndon, Va., (Nov. 13, 2023)— The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) is pleased to announce that Gary Dunow is joining the Foundation as Vice President for Strategic Development. This new addition to the organization’s executive team underscores USGIF’s commitment to advancing the GEOINT community.

In his role, Dunow will focus on guiding the Foundation’s issue-focused working groups and expanding thought leadership initiatives, with a particular emphasis on strategic investment across the GEOINT enterprise. Additionally, he plans to bolster the Foundation’s presence in the global GEOINT enterprise by growing and strengthening relationships with international counterparts.

“We are thrilled to introduce our newest addition to team USGIF – the Vice President for Strategic Growth.,” said Ronda Schrenk, Chief Executive Officer, USGIF. “This appointment marks a significant milestone in our journey towards expanding our organization’s reach and impact. With his exceptional expertise and visionary mindset, we are confident that Gary will play a pivotal role in driving our strategic growth initiatives to new heights. Together, we will forge ahead, embracing innovation and collaboration, as we continue to advance the geospatial intelligence community.”

USGIF is completing another remarkable year, including the annual GEOINT Symposium, a popular new event series focused on developing diversity in leadership, and two new accredited higher education programs.

“I could not be happier to be joining USGIF at this time,” Dunow said. “During my two decades with NGA, I benefitted immensely from the great work and leadership of USGIF for the GEOINT community. I’m proud to be joining such an accomplished team, and excited about the opportunity to contribute toward our collective goals. The future of GEOINT as a discipline is bright and promising.”

Prior to joining USGIF, Dunow served over 37 years in the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense. His experience includes a strong mix of operations, policy, and support work across the Global Geospatial Enterprise. He culminated his federal service as the Associate Director for Enterprise and a member of the Executive Committee at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).

His other roles included leading the Directorates of Analysis, International Affairs, Global Support, and Talent Development at NGA. He has received numerous civil service and military awards, including the Presidential Rank Award, DoD Superior Service Medal, and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. He is a graduate of the Syracuse National Security Fellows Program and the Defense Department CAPSTONE Program.
