BlackSky Imagery Highlights Scale of Operational Complexity of International Evacuation During Early Days of 2023 Sudan Conflict

HERNDON, Va.-BlackSky Technology Inc. (NYSE: BKSY) released a sixty-image collection captured over Khartoum, Sudan, showcasing the never-before-seen scale of operational complexity associated with the evacuation of international civilians and key personnel from Wadi Sayyidna Airfield from late April until early May. The image collection contains high-cadence, time-diverse imagery taken as early as 5:37 a.m., and as late as 5:22 p.m., Central Africa Time.

“The BlackSky analyst team had been monitoring the airfield in real time, tracking the immense volume and diversity of aircraft operating from a single location. Insights like this are essential for strategic and tactical decision-making during critical, time-dominant operations,” said Brian E. O’Toole, BlackSky CEO. “Intelligence analysts familiar with the imagery identified eight different types of military aircraft, including helicopters, cargo aircraft and fighter jets, from nine different countries.”

BlackSky’s commercial high-frequency monitoring satellite constellation and AI-driven tasking and analytics platform give customers unparalleled situational awareness during fast-paced, complex national security and economic events. BlackSky’s first-of-a-kind commercial constellation provides reliable and dynamic hourly monitoring, up to 15 times a day from dawn until dusk.

“Continuous, around-the-clock monitoring gives our most demanding customers the unique ability to see anomalies, capture rare events and stay informed about critical areas of interest in real time,” O’Toole said.”

The original high resolution, sixty-image collection is available upon request.
