Aurecon strengthens digital offering in Greater China to help clients future-proof their infrastructure

Hong Kong – As businesses across Asia continue to navigate change and act more effectively as data-led organisations, Aurecon has strengthened its digital capabilities to help clients to transform their businesses.

The international design, engineering and advisory company has appointed Frank Nelisi as its Digital Practice Leader, Greater China. Based in Hong Kong, Frank will report directly to Alton Chow, Managing Director for Greater China.

Under its 14th Five-Year Plan (2021 – 2025), China has made digital competitiveness a national priority and it is anticipated that the pace of digitalisation is set to accelerate across all sectors. As Aurecon continues to invest in digital transformation and innovation, this appointment will enable the company to better provide its clients in Greater China with innovative solutions and the digital expertise they require to negotiate a rapidly evolving market.

In his new role, Frank will advance Aurecon’s digital engineering capabilities, as well as spearhead strategic initiatives to transform digital delivery in Greater China. He will help Aurecon’s clients to bridge the digital and physical worlds by blending the company’s cutting-edge digital offering with subject matter expertise to improve whole-of-life performance on projects.

Alongside Frank, Aurecon has further bolstered its senior digital leadership team for Greater China, with Krit Chandrema coming on board as Senior Digital Manager to lead computational design. Monika Lau, Lead Information Manager will take on the responsibility of driving digital management in the region, while Ray Cheng, Building Information Modelling (BIM) Manager will head digital modelling.

As a digital expert with almost 20 years of practical design and construction experience in Asia Pacific, Frank can leverage his sound understanding of global best practices, design principles and standards to deliver tailored and value-added services for clients in Greater China. Notably, he also possesses extensive experience using multiple software for developing BIM, with the support from software suppliers.

Krit Chandrema – Senior Digital Manager

Krit brings to Aurecon over 15 years of in-depth digital experience, ranging from BIM to parametric modelling, information quality control and more. He will support the development and implementation of digital initiatives; promote best practices especially in computational design; and also collaborate with digital experts across the Aurecon network to enhance digital delivery and deepen technical expertise in Greater China.

About Frank Nelisi

Prior to joining Aurecon, Frank was BIM Manager at Atkins China Limited (Hong Kong). He was responsible for BIM project set-ups and led BIM management that spanned multiple disciplines including civil, utilities, structural, architectural, MEP and geotechnical. During his time at Atkins, Frank was instrumental in the delivery of various iconic projects which include the Hong Kong International Airport’s (HKIA) Third Runway System (3RS) project; the Highways Department’s proposed pedestrian footbridge system in Mong Kok; and the MTR Corporation Limited’s Joint Venture, Tung Chung Line Extension. Over the course of his career, Frank has held leadership positions at InteliBuild Technyx Asia Limited (Hong Kong) and at Tonkin+Taylor in New Zealand.

Frank is a well-respected expert in his field and contributes actively to the growth of the BIM profession. He is a Professional Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Building Information Modelling (HKIBIM) and the Hong Kong Construction Industry Council (CIC) certified BIM Manager. Frank holds a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Civil) degree and Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Unitec Institute of Technology, New Zealand.

 

About Krit Chandrema

Krit joins Aurecon from Ronald Lu & Partners (Hong Kong) Limited where he was its Senior BIM Manager and Corporate BIM Manager, coordinating the company’s corporate BIM management, training and adoption of standards and guidelines. While there, Krit was involved in several key projects, including the Members Main Entrance Redevelopment and Multi-Level Carpark at Sha Tin Racecourse; the New Territories East Cultural Centre and the HKIA office tower development.

Graduating as an architect from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Thailand, Krit embarked on his career at the university’s Research and Design Service Centre before working at HOK International (Asia/Pacific) Limited, Hong Kong and subsequently, at Ronald Lu & Partners. Krit is a registered architect at the Architect Council of Thailand, a Professional Member of HKIBIM, a CIC certified BIM Manager, a BIM Professional Certification Assessor for the Hong Kong Institute of Architects’ BIM Accreditation Programme and BIM Assessor for the CIC BIM Personnel Certification and Training Course Accreditation Schemes.

 

About Monika Lau

Monika joined Aurecon in 2019 and has over 10 years of experience in the design and construction industry, specialising in BIM implementation, digital strategy and information management. Before joining Aurecon, she had worked at New World Construction Co. Ltd. and WSP Hong Kong Ltd. Monika holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Construction Management degree from Coventry University, United Kingdom. She is a Professional Member of HKIBIM and Board member of HKIBIM (2021-2023).

About Ray Cheng

Ray has been with Aurecon since 2012. He has more than 14 years of experience within the civil and structural engineering sector on delivering planning, detailed design, tender and construction stages work, as well as over 10 years of deep dive in BIM. In the past, Ray has supported different Aurecon offices to execute BIM deliverables including Hong Kong, Thailand, New Zealand, and Australia. Earlier in his career, Ray has worked at Buro Happold and Wong & Cheng Consulting Engineers Limited in delivering digital modelling works. Ray holds a Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering and is currently completing a Master of Science in BIM Management and Integrated Digital Delivery at Middlesex University, United Kingdom. He is a Professional Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Civil and Building Information Modelling (HKICBIM).
