viaEuropa extends premium maps and imagery access to Northern Ireland

Europa Technologies has announced that its award-winning viaEuropa service has been extended to support maps and imagery for Northern Ireland. Sourced from Ordnance Survey Northern Ireland (OSNI), the service can now provide access to OSNI Fusion and Orthophotography. When used alongside Ordnance Survey content for Great Britain, viaEuropa can offer seamless coverage for the whole of the United Kingdom.

For public sector organisations with a pan-UK remit, viaEuropa can extend the geography of centralised contracts, including the Public Sector Geospatial Agreement (PSGA) and Aerial Photography Great Britain (APGB) agreement. As an authorised partner of both Ordnance Survey and Ordnance Survey Northern Ireland, Europa Technologies can also help arrange data licensing, where required.

In addition to the support for Northern Ireland, viaEuropa has been enhanced to support rights management, meaning it can give access to premium content on a geographically restricted basis. This is ideal for businesses operating in a fixed geography, such as utilities or gigabit broadband. It offers a cost-effective, flat-rate licensing model rather than transactional access which bills increasingly for repeated access to the same area.

viaEuropa is an enterprise-grade service which gives reliable, high-performance access to valuable maps and data content. It supports OGC-compliant services, including WMTS, WMS and WFS, plus powerful APIs for address search. The service enjoyed 100% uptime in 2021, and more than 99.999% over the past five years.

Warren Vick, Director of Europa Technologies, said, “As a partner of both Ordnance Survey and Ordnance Survey Northern Ireland, we are well positioned to offer a comprehensive and seamless mapping service for the entire United Kingdom. viaEuropa supports all mission goals of the UK National Data Strategy, especially in terms of unlocking the value of trusted data assets, across the entire country. We look forward to the opportunities full UK coverage provides to both commercial companies and public sector organisations.”
