USGIF Launches Fifth Annual EdGEOcation Giving Campaign

Herndon, Virginia —The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) announces the launch of its fifth annual EdGEOcation Giving Fund, with the goal to raise $70,000 and awareness for USGIF’s 2021 Scholarship Program.

Since launching the scholarship program in 2004 USGIF has demonstrated its commitment to GEOINT education by awarding more than $1.4 million in scholarships to highly deserving students, from high school to Ph.D. levels.

Through the fiscally challenging environment this year, USGIF was steadfast in their promise and awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships. However, without your help, the 2021 Scholarship program may be significantly reduced. As the foundation prepares to launch its 2021 scholarship program, please donate so we can continue to help fund and build the GEOINT tradecraft.

“It’s beneficial for  people in the industry to give back to universities. By investing in the students, you are investing into the progression of the tradecraft and the community,” said Kevin Mercy, a former USGIF scholarship recipient.

“I look to USGIF for leadership in diversity, and I’m seeing that the scholarship is being offered to students from across the country, irrespective of background, and so I see it as way for increasing the diversity within this growing field,”  Brendan Staple, a former USGIF scholarship recipient.

Contributors to the giving campaign help further, secure and diversify the education of the country’s future GEOINT analysts, cartographers, human (cultural) geographers, data scientists, engineers, and beyond. All EdGEOcation funds go towards scholarships! All donations are tax deductible.

Your donation will directly support:

  • Ten (10) $1,000 scholarships to high school students for a $10,000 goal and;
  • Twenty (20) $3,000 scholarships to undergraduate and graduate/Ph.D. students for a $60,000 goal.

Donations to USGIF’s EdGEOcation Giving Fund may be made via PayPalcheck, and AmazonSmile.
