Bluesky Expands Global Business with Travis Mayne and Emma Smith Appointments

Leicestershire, UK – Aerial mapping company Bluesky International has recruited two sales and business development professionals to expand its commercial team. Travis Mayne joins Bluesky in the position of Business Development Manager while Emma Smith takes on the newly created role of Bid Manager. Mayne and Smith will be based out of the Bluesky head office in the UK supporting its worldwide operation with offices in Ireland, India and the US.

“Its potentially a difficult time for companies to recuit,” commented Rachel Tidmarsh, Managing Director of Bluesky International. “However, to ensure we continue to support and expand our global client base delivering the highest quality geospatial products and services it is essential that we invest in the best people, such as Travis and Emma, who have the same vision and goals as the rest of the Bluesky team.”

Travis Mayne is a seasoned geomatics professional with nearly 30 years in the sector. Mayne joins Bluesky from Cyient Europe, formerly Blom Aerofilms, where he held multiple roles, including Project Manager and Sales and Business Development Executive, over a 17 period. A member of the Rotal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Mayne started his geospatial career as a photogrammetrist with Mason Land Surveys before holding roles with Simmons Mapping and Atkins.

“I have worked with the Bluesky team for many years across a number of projects so was delighted to finally become one of the team,” said Mayne. “This is an exciting time for aerial survey companies in general and Bluesky in particular as it continues to invest in new technology and develop innovative products and services.”

Emma Smith is an experienced business development professional with a proved track record of supporting SMEs as they expand into new regions and industry sectors. With a degree in Fashion and Textiles Smith has worked with a number of UK based suppliers of workplace and corporate clothing.

“Joining Bluesky in the middle of a global pandemic was daunting to say the least,” added Smith. “Despite the company operating during lockdown conditions the communication in the run up to my start date was brilliant and the virtual induction well planned and well executed. The use of Teams to communicate has meant that I feel well connected and already part of the friendly team.”
