3rd Commercial UAV Expo Europe A Huge Success, With Nearly Double The Attendance Of Prior Edition

AMSTERDAM THE NETHERLANDS – The third annual Commercial UAV Expo Europe, an international trade fair and conference focused on commercial drone integration and operation for large enterprise end-users and asset owners, was a tremendous success, according to event organizers and key stakeholders in the commercial UAS ecosystem. The event took place 8-10 April 2019 at the RAI Amsterdam. Attendance was 1,179, an increase of 72% over the 2018 event. In the Exhibition, more than 50 organizations showcased their drones, systems and services. The event was truly international, with 65 countries represented between attendees and exhibitors.  More than 100 publications, portals, analysts, associations, user groups and cooperating events supported the event.

“We had an excellent response to this year’s Commercial UAV Expo Europe,” said Lisa Murray, Group Director at Diversified Communications, the event organizer. “Attendees were thrilled by the opportunities to network, increase their knowledge, and compare and qualify best-in-class UAS. For their part, exhibitors noted the steep increase in attendance over the last edition as well as the quality and knowledge level of the delegates.”

“The event exceeded our expectations,” said Alberto Cajiao, Senior Product Manager at Sitemark in Belgium. “The high quality of the presentations and the discussions are just one example of the value of the expo. It was a three-day intense experience in which promising business and collaboration opportunities were created. We will be there next year for sure.”

Said Jan Rijk Vonk, Lead of Agrifood at KPN in The Netherlands, “Above all, we were very pleased to get insights and share thoughts and ideas on drones and related topics. Conversations took into account the triangle between drones, artificial intelligence and sensors consisting of data and connectivity. Exactly the hotspot we are looking to serve.”

To the delight of the drone professionals at the event, organizers announced that next year’s Commercial UAV Expo Europe will take place 1-3 December, 2020 as part of Amsterdam Drone Week, an event that brings the entire drone ecosystem, including the EASA High Level Conference, Mobility as a Service, Conferences on Drones in Public Domain, and many more events together for networking, education and to propel the unmanned aircraft industry ahead.

Lisa Murray made the announcement together with Paul Riemens, CEO/Chairman of the Executive Board at RAI Amsterdam, organizer of Amsterdam Drone Week. “Rather than being competitive, this is a complementary partnership,” said Ms. Murray. “Amsterdam Drone Week is very focused on urban air mobility, air taxis and u-space while Commercial UAV Expo is more focused on commercial applications for sUAS, so it’s really bringing the whole drone ecosystem together.” “We see a lot of synergies between the two companies and these two events and a lot of potential to grow this event into something that’s going to play a role at a global level,” said Mr. Riemens.

“Amsterdam Drone Week is focused more on municipal, government and European Union applications and issues, while Commercial UAV Expo Europe is closer to the commercial and industrial, so it’s a great blend and holding them together is a great choice,” said Michael Mazur, Head of Drone Powered Solutions at PwC in Poland. “It seems like a very good bridge between regulators, policy-makers and what’s really happening in the industry.”
