Sanborn Appoints VP and Chief Scientist

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Sanborn is pleased to announce that Dr. Srini Dharmapuri has joined the Sanborn team as Vice President and Chief Scientist. In this role, Dr. Dharmapuri will be responsible for implementing scientific, research, and technology improvements across the company. Additionally, he will also operate as a Program Manager and provide assistance in business development efforts.

Dr. Dharmapuri’s career in the Geomatics industry has been extensive and widespread. He has over 30 years of global experience, including extensive hands-on experience in a variety of roles in remote sensing, lidar, photogrammetry and UAS. He has also held leadership and management positions where he successfully guided and provided support for his team. Prior to relocating to the USA, he was a senior scientist at India’s premier space research institution—analogous to NASA here in the USA.

Dr. Dharmapuri holds a PhD in Satellite Photogrammetry, a Master of Technology in Remote Sensing and a Master of Science in Physics. He is certified in photogrammetry and lidar by the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), and is a licensed photogrammetric surveyor in South Carolina and Virginia. In addition, he is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and GIS Professional (GISP). He has been actively associated with ASPRS, holding various positions including National Director and President of Eastern Great Lakes Region (EGLR).
