U.S. Army Geospatial Center (AGC) Awards Strategic ACI $4.9M Contract

WASHINGTON – Strategic Alliance Consulting, Inc. (Strategic ACI) announced today it was awarded a competitive prime contract by the U.S. Army Geospatial Center (AGC) to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) Support and Expertise for geospatial standards and Army Geospatial Engineering (AGE) certification.

The primary areas of support include:

  • Geospatial Systems Engineering
  • Geospatial standards
  • Standards profiles
  • Raster and vector tiles
  • Portrayal, on road and off-road routing
  • Modeling and simulation

Army Geospatial Enterprise Goals

The goal of the AGE is to ensure a common operating picture for Army Mission Command systems. For this to happen, Mission Command systems must be able to consume geospatial data from the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG) via geospatial standards, web services or bulk file transfers. To enable the AGE, AGC has focused on interoperability through implementation of geospatial standards profiles, minimizing the number of standards being utilized, testing and improving file exchange efficiency. This approach ensures systems that consume or produce Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) or geospatial information are interoperable and can share GEOINT.

Under the contract, Strategic ACI will provide SETA support to accelerate AGE data integration and certification capabilities to support interoperability of Army intelligence sources via broader adoption of Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards. Strategic ACI will work with Army Programs of Record and the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG) to align, integrate, and stress-test critical geospatial data for times of national crisis and operational planning. This work will expand AGE certification to investigate emerging industry and open-source-developed test harnesses and develop a validation tool to be integrated and implemented within current and future Army test and certification processes.

“We are honored to have been selected by the US Army Geospatial Center (AGC),” said Ken Lukonis, CEO of Strategic ACI. “This is the next step in ensuring that the Army has repeatable processes for testing and certification of geospatial data on the Army systems. Geospatial interoperability has been an issue for the Army for a long time and the AGC is leading the way to fixing this by implementing an AGE certification process.”
