Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue risk-based intelligence calls for Cadcorp Spatial Information System

Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue (LFR) have a requirement for a Geographic Information System (GIS) that can support risk led, evidence based decision-making at all levels. This is pertinent to their Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP) where the geographic targeting of resources, the impact of cover and the level of risk are all being assessed.

LFR selected Cadcorp SIS Desktop to meet this requirement because of its dynamic analysis and associated fire service specific modelling applications. Cadcorp Workload Modeller provides detailed resource and demand analysis and allows LFR to run a range of “What if” scenarios. Cadcorp Risk Modeller is used for creating multiple risk maps that can react to historical and projected data, and changes to population distribution, demographics and transport links.

The Cadcorp applications make integrated GIS modelling, workload modelling and risk modelling possible.  Viewing workload and risk models in the context of Ordnance Survey maps and other GIS overlays undoubtedly aids communication with end users. This will improve efficiency in the Community Risk and Intelligence teams at LFR and drive improvements in both community risk and performance data.

For resilience, and to offset an increased demand for data, the Community Risk and Intelligence teams have been trained in the use of Cadcorp software. Cadcorp technical support is also provided and LFR will have full access to Cadcorp software updates as they are released.

Matt King, Integrated Risk Manager at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue commented: “We manage our performance closely to ensure we continue to deliver positive outcomes to the communities of Lincolnshire. The software that Cadcorp supplies, assists us in matching resources with demand and risk.”

Geographic information is increasingly becoming a strategic and operational resource for police, fire, ambulance and other rescue services. To find out more, visit the Cadcorp website.

About Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue
https://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/lincolnshire-fire-and-rescue/
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue (LFR) is the statutory fire and rescue service serving the non-metropolitan county of Lincolnshire in the East Midlands Region of the UK.

The area covered is large and mainly rural, with LFR coming under the authority of Lincolnshire County Council. Lincoln is the only City within the area, as well as large towns such as Grantham, Boston, Skegness, Spalding and Gainsborough. The rest of the area’s inhabitants are spread over other medium-sized towns and villages, linked by rural roads.
